It is in the nature of man to fear that which he does not understand, and so in the dark of caves and stone dwellings mankind used their own will to alter the coarse of nature, to protect themselves from the darkness. Fear is one of the worlds most profane emotions, it can drive man into all manners of actions, and its powers have been used to coerce people for centuries. At this time of year it is always best to build your defenses.

Bath For Protection & Purification

Steep a teaspoon of basil in a cup of boiling water, and strain out the herb. Add it to you bath water for a protective and cleansing influence.

Chant to yourself:
Trice around the circle's bound
Sink all evil into the ground
End with "So Mote it Be!" It is particularly useful to clean off the feelings left by contact with those who are negative or controlling.

Travel Protection Sachet

1. 1 part mustard seed.


2. 1 part Comfrey


3. 1 part Irish moss


4. 1 part kelp

Tie the ingrediants up together in a white or yellow cloth carried with you. Tuck one into each suitcase or garment bag.

Spell For Protection

Sit or stand before any fire. Look into the flames (or flame if using a candle). Visualize the fire bathing you with glowing, protective light. The fire creates a flaming, shimmering sphere around you. If you wish, say the following words:

"Craft the spell in the fire;
Craft it well; Weave it higher.
Weave it now of shining flame;
None shall come to hurt or maim.
None shall pass this fiery wall;
None shall pass No, none at all."

Home Protection Spell Bottle

Find an apothecary bottle or jar that has a lid (an empty candle jar with a cork lid or a canning jar will suffice) and add to it the following botanicals while visualizing your home bathed in a warm protecting energy:

1. 1/4 to 1 cup salt


2. 1 clove garlic


3. 3 bay leaves


4. 7 tsp. dried basil


5. 4 tsp. dill seeds


6. 1 tsp. sage


7. 1 tsp. anise


8. 1 tsp. black pepper


9. 1 tsp. fennel

Mix the ingredients well and then seal the jar with either beeswax or white candle wax on a sunny day while you say the following words:

"Spices that protect
Guard my home with energy
As bright as the sun"

Place the jar in a prominent spot in your home and it will protect the home and all within from negative influences, creating a peaceful sanctuary. The Silver Moon Crow Coven has also used this Charm when camping.
